This knot is also known as the simple knot or the schoolboy knot due to its simplicity and style. It came to prominence when London's Four In Hand Club members began wearing it, making it fashionable. The knot is known by its narrow profile and is notably asymmetrical. It can be worn for most occasions with the exception of more formal events. Four In Hand knots work best for Point, Windsor, and Button Down collars. The Half Windsor, or Single Windsor, knot is a neat triangular knot. It is larger than the Four In Hand knot, which makes it a perfect complement for all occasions, all collars and all fabrics. It is the most useful knot to know how to tie. Check out this video to help you learn to tie it!
The Full Windsor
The Full Windsor is a wide symmetrical triangular knot. It was likely invented by The Duke of Windsor's Father, George V. The Duke preferred a wide knot and had his ties made with thicker fabric in order to produce a wider knot when tied with a conventional Four In Hand knot. The Windsor Knot was invented to produce this effect with ties made from a standard thickness. The Windsor can be used with most collars, however it looks best with wide collars like the American, British, and Italian Spread. It can be used for most occasions, however it seems to be better suited from business to formal events. Check out this video to help you learn this classic knot.
The Bow Tie
The bow tie knot is a completely different beast. This one will take lots of practice, but will be rewarding once you've mastered it.
